Dohaland Unveils Corporate Identity
Real estate developer ‘Dohaland,’ a subsidiary of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development yesterday unveiled its corporate identity designed to reflect its goal of combining modern life with traditional values and culture. The company was established in late 2007 with a mandate to create new living concepts built on traditional Arabic architecture and design.

Speaking at a news conference here yesterday, Dohaland CEO, Engineer Issa Mohammed Al Mohannadi said: “Dohaland is an exceptional company, and is evolutionary not only in Qatar, but also in the worldwide real estate development industry.”

“It is exceptional in its philosophy, its business practices and its people. Never before has a company approached architecture and urban planning in this way,” he said.

He added that Dohaland is founded on a set of pillars, namely heritage and culture, innovation, sustainability, enrichment and environment.

Asked about the rationale of setting up a real estate company at a time when the industry is facing a downturn, Saad Ibrahim Al Mohannadi, Dohaland Board Member said as part of its mission the company will be developing special projects that will directly or indirectly benefit the whole community in Qatar.

“It is not going to be just a commercial venture designed to generate quick profits. It is a company with long-term investments. Dohaland is pursuing many missions that are not market-related. One of the most important missions of Dohaland is to evolve the architectural language of Qatari, Arabic and Islamic architecture that we think has stopped evolving for a long time,” he said.

The company’s officials point out that Dohaland’s mandate is to research and understand what was good about the past, and how modern, innovative technologies and thinking can be blended to create a new architectural language rooted in the best of the past. Issa Al Mohannadi also pointed out that at the heart of the company, is a commitment to stay true to the heritage and culture. “We are confident that Dohaland will be able to strike the balance between creating modern, innovative developments and at the same time highlight, or rediscover, local heritage and culture,” he said.
