Water World
In July 2009, the city of Sharm el Sheik will unveil a £3.8 billion real estate development, featuring 12 giant lagoons, the largest of which measures a staggering 8.8 hectares in size.

Created by Crystal Lagoons, the same team behind the eight-hectare behemoth in Chile's San Alfonso del Mar Resort (which incidentally holds the current Guinness record of largest pool in the world), the project nicknamed City of Stars will feature 30,000 luxury residences, a string of five-star hotels, golf courses, even a museum and shopping mall. These will be arranged around the 12 lagoons that dot the landscape.

According to a spokesperson from Crystal Lagoons, the water source for the pool will likely come from the Red Sea, which is a mere three kilometers away. Using Crystal Lagoons' patented water filtering technology, the pools only need to be filled once, after which the water will be constantly circulated, filtered and disinfected.

City of Stars in Sharm el Sheikh is the first of four similar mega-projects that Crystal Lagoons is developing with local Egyptian partners, Pyramids Plaza and Citystars Holding.
